Seems we haven't seen the last of snow around here as it's snowing as I type this, so I thought I'd share some of the photos I took when we had our last big snow in January. I love the snow, it's wonderland magic can make everything feel so serene...so in the early morning quiet, while every tree branch was still coated, I took some pictures. The snow, while there was a lot of it, was light and fluffy and in only a matter of hours, the sun and wind made my photos look as if they'd almost been a dream.

I felt I wanted to say something about yesterday's news concerning David Tennant leaving Doctor Who. I just wasn't sure what to say....so I thought I might start by sending some more hugs out to my dear friend humansrsuperior. I know how sad she is feeling and today all I keep thinking about is how beautifully she celebrated her doctor with her beyond magnificent videos ....and amazing fan fiction. Since my LJ username, raspberry-splat, was actually born out of a scene from an early fic of hers, Raspberry Rose (it mentions raspberry ice cream and....how some went 'splat'), it got me thinking and remembering...and I thought what could be better than to honor this doctor....and HRS's writing by putting a wee spotlight on her beautiful body of work, for her writing is one of the ways she pulled me closer to finally watching and falling into Doctor Who...and her stories have brought joy to so many. I remember a good many 'fic chats' we had and I am honored to have witnessed some of her creative writing process. So even though Ten will be leaving the TARDIS after the Specials, there will be many ways to revisit his time there .... including the glorious Ten (she even wrote some incredible Nine fic for me) stories HRS has shared with us HERE. Perhaps you will choose one or two..or a few...to read for the first time..or favorites to enjoy again.

I love this movie to bits and pieces, it is such a family favorite in our house. There are sooooo many fantastic scenes and I have many favorites..but this one came to my mind immediately. I just adore the priceless delivery by Cary Elwes. My husband just came downstairs to show me the movie was actually on TV as I type this up! We couldn't get over such a coincidence!

This is one clever, fun and fabulously edited vid. I had the pleasure of seeing bits of it as it came alive and I am such huge admirer of rhoboat's talents! It's such fun seeing all these fandoms bound together by this ingenius idea. Such awesome lyric matching, I'm still reeling! The wonderful effects and fantastic editing have you wanting to ride this clever vid again and again.

Pure Magnificence. Every step and evey sweep of this vid has me enraptured. With flawless, pristine editing...the vid is gloriously alive, it's beauteous streaks full of vibrant dance and emotions. Four dance films including my personal favorite, Strictly Ballroom, are all edited together seamlessly...like a miracle...the vid is enthralling just like dance itself. This gorgeous gorgeous vid paints the joy of dance on your soul!

All such inspiring work....(I can only hope a tiny bit of that inspiration will work it's magic and help me finish up my own vid.) :)

I know I'm so late to the game and practically the entire TV watching world has already seen all there is to see where Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel series are concerned..but at the urging of my dear friend leviathan101 I am about to indulge myself greatly and post a picspam from Beneath You. The last five minutes of Spike's glorious and moving scene in the church really hit me hard, so since it's difficult to put all I feel about it into words at the moment, here are some images from that gorgeous scene.
To me...emotionally...visually..,it's one of the most incredible scenes in all of BtVS.

I know they have both spoken about this on their own LJ's but I just wanted to alert the Smallville fans on my flist to please check out some beautiful work by my two dear friends, leviathan101 and humansrsuperior. In 2007, they were asked to be part of a collaboration video with some other Smallville vidders. Unfortunately, the final vid was never finished, but their gorgeous portions are now fused together..to be much enjoyed. To fans of music videos (Smallville or non), I highly recommend watching some fabulous vidding by two vidders I admire beyond words.

I'm going to start by answering something Lev brought up in her vidding meme..and add that my editing software is the wonderful Sony Vegas. :)

1.) When did you first start vidding?
I began vidding in March 2005. It started shortly after I began watching Farscape and fell deeply in love wih the show.

2) What would you say was your inspiration or motivation to start doing it?
My inspiration definitely first came from a need to celebrate my love of Farscape....and from the incredible videos I was seeing...all due to dear friend leviathan101 who introduced me to both Farscape..and vdding. Some of the first vids I saw were her beautiful debut vid Don't Speak..and Lithiumdoll's "My Immortal" The more deeply I was moved by the show, the more the need to express it took me over. I have my dear friend Lev to blame for that, .. my but I'm so glad!!

3) What do you or have you vidded?
So far I have edited videos for Farscape, Smallville and Doctor Who.

4) Where do you draw your inspiration from for vids? Is it the song? An idea? Someone else?
My ideas definitely start with the song, and I begin to see my story inside the music and lyrics. It usually won't leave me alone and I'll play it in my car non stop, and the vid starts itself on the 'timline in my head.' I usually keep a note pad in my purse for jotting down ideas, even at a stop light if need be, so I won't forget them by the time I get back to my computer.

Notes: I'm not even sure where to begin with what to say about this vid. It was started back in October. 
The usual RL things delayed it, but it did progress, then at the end of January, my hard drive 
crashed and I lost it, it was about 3/4 finished. I wasn't sure I could resurrect it at all,...but thanks to the very dear humansrsuperior, who had saved some of my rendered clips, I decided to give it a try. I wouldn't have even considered it at all if she hadn't saved them. That, along with leviathan101's encouraging words: "What I might consider doing in your shoes, is to plug in those pieces and edit around it to finish," gave me hope and I began 
trying to sew it back together. I'm happy to finally be able to post this. :)

You've brightened my spirits no end!!!

Yayyyyyyyy! After catching up with S1 - 3 on DVD and via downloads this summer, I finally got to watch NEW WHO with my fellow Whovians...the very same day! Time Crash was soooo adorably funny....and just a joy to watch! What a treasure for new and old fans alike! Having two Doctors face to face is completely wonderful in itself....but of course for me, having one of them be Ten just amped up the enjoyment 1000 watts! David's glee at being on screen with Five was plain to see and we all benefitted from his excitment.  As soon as I get this post up (which has been a wee bit stubborn this night...grrrrr!) I'm off to watch again!

I had lots of favorite moments...
